Oh no, no, no.
I'm pretty sure it resembles my elementary school uniform, except... I had taste.
Now, the purpose of these blogs are not to bash people, or make them feel bad, but rather to give some much needed advice.
The "How-To" (Or Not To) On Plaid:
First, plaid should not be a pattern worn on a skirt. Plaid can be cute though! Next time try it in a top or a dress. Also, you need to choose a plaid more appropriate for your body type. For instance, if you are short a bright, bold plaid may be a bit too overwhelming for your figure. A better choice for you would be a classic plaid in a neutral or colors that aren't too vibrant (stay away from bright yellows and red). If you are tall you can pull off a busier pattern, but keep it in a classic cut, don't go too crazy. STAY AWAY FROM PLAID ANYTHING THAT GOES ON YOUR LOWER HALF. As mentioned before, plaid skirts are a no no. Also, very few people can actually pull off plaid pants, so unless you are one of those people (RULE: have to be at least 5'10" or over to even try) the answer is NO. Plaid dresses, shirts, trench coats, pea coats, and vests are "in" right now, just find the right plaid for you.
Matchy Matchy Monstrosities:
Moving on from plaid, being too matchy matchy is never a good thing. The first thing that comes to mind usually is, "oh this blue cardigan matches my blue skirt perfectly!" NO. Using the example above (trying to ignore the plaid skirt) instead of pairing the red skirt with a red cardigan try a more neutral color, in this case, black or white. I just cannot get over that skirt. Another thing to keep in mind is to be creative! If neutral colors just don't float your boat do complementary colors ring a bell? I know everyone had to have taken at least one art class in their lifetime. If you do not know what complementary colors are, look it up. Just stay away from pairing red and green, unless it is the holidays.
Accessories:
She is actually on the right page, sorta, with her accessories. I will give her a little credit. A long necklace can be worn by ether short or tall people. Long necklaces can be worn by short people to look leaner and taller (make sure the necklace does not go past your belly button) and by tall people to appear leaner and proportionate. Long necklaces can make an outfit come together while flattering your body type. As for the hat... I say no. Just no, I don't even want to get into it. Some girls can wear them, others cannot... she cannot. Period. P.S. a hair elastic is not a bracelet, take it off your wrist and tie back your mane. Which leads me to my next point...
Hairy Hairy Hair:
If you have time for anything in the morning it should be your hair. Your hair frames your face and plays a big role in the look of your skin (skin tone). Your hair is a very important fashion accessory if you will. It is very important to know how to make your hair look its best. In our example above we see thick, frizzy, chaos. Instead, we should see thick, beautiful, curly hair. My personal favorite hair product line is Herbal Essences. They provide quality products for a quality (low) price (Target, Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid)
*On a side note: The tank top is not bad, although, you can add more visual interest to an outfit by purchasing tank tops that have beading, lace, or small ruffles. Mix it up a little and try to stay away from too many basics. Add one statement piece, NOT A PLAID SKIRT.
